Night swim has begun at Big Blue Bay and will be held Wednesdays through Sundays from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
Bands on the Bricks will be held Friday, July 14 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on the 200 block of Box Butte Avenue. The street will be closed from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
The 200 block of Box Butte Avenue will be closed Thursday, July 20 at 3:30 p.m. until midnight Saturday, July 22 for Heritage Days events.
Traffic on Niobrara Avenue and Sweetwater Avenue between 10th and 12th Streets will become one way streets during the Heritage Days Family Night Tuesday, July 18 between 3:00 and 9:00 p.m. Traffic will be routed north bound on Niobrara Avenue and south bound on Sweetwater Avenue.
The Native Futures Dancers and Hand Drum Singers will perform Tuesday, July 18 at 5:00 p.m. at the Central Park Fountain. The crowning of the Heritage Days Grand Marshall will take place at the fountain at 6:00 p.m.
4th and 5th Streets from Laramie Avenue to Niobrara Avenue will be restricted to postal and emergency vehicles only from 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 19 through midnight Saturday, July 22 during Heritage Days.
The Alliance Police Department would like to remind motorists to be aware of the increased foot traffic in the downtown area during Heritage Days. Please exercise caution while driving on 3rd Street near event venues.

The Knight Museum and Sandhills Center will close Thursday, July 20 and Friday, July 21 at 5:00 p.m.
Construction is being done on CR57 between Highway 2 and the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery at Alliance gate. Traffic will be limited to one lane during the construction which is anticipated to last approximately one week.
The Alliance Public Library is hosting a Total Eclipse Science Fair this summer for students entering 1st through 12th grades. Projects can be from any branch of science and must relate in some way to the eclipse. Students will research a question and present their results in exhibits that will be displayed in the library August 14 through 21. Students will present their work to the judges Monday, August 21 starting at 4:00 p.m. There are four age categories with a $100 prize for the best exhibit in each category sponsored by the Alliance Public Library Foundation. Complete rules and registration forms are available at the library. Registration forms are due at the library by August 1. The public is invited to view the displays the week prior to the eclipse and receive a free pair of eclipse glasses courtesy of the Moore Foundation.
Beginning July 26, the Alliance Dog Owners Volunteer Group will be hosting free Basic Dog Obedience Workshops from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. each Wednesday night through September 6 at Wiggley Field Dog Park located at 16th and Box Butte Avenue. The workshops will focus on basic obedience tips to train your dog and appropriate canine behavior at the dog park and other public areas.
