Carroll “Big Dad” Reeh, 83, died Saturday, December 22, 2012, at Box Butte General Hospital.
He was born October 6, 1929 at Sumner, Nebraska to Richard and Rosalina (Bunzendahl) Reeh. Carroll served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1953. Following his military service, he did several odd jobs before starting with the Burlington Northern Railroad in 1958. There, he worked as a conductor until his retirement in 1991.
He married Emma Hrebec on July 23, 1956 in Ord, Nebraska. He enjoyed working on various projects with his brother-in-law and nephews and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it.
He is survived by his wife, son and daughter-in-law , Doug and Lorie Reeh, daughters, Deb Reeh and Donna Reeh, granddaughters, Kristina Pinedo, Leslie Reeh and Mikaela Hurley, grandsons, Jalen Hurley and Jaime Pinedo, great-grandsons, Peyton and Paxton Pinedo, former daughter-in-law, Jayne Reeh, two sisters, Geneva Gillming and Frances Howard, a brother, Velmer Reeh, and dozens of nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Gwen Reeh and brother, Wilbur Reeh.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, December 27 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bates-Gould Chapel. Cremation has taken place and his ashes will be interred at a later date at the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery at Alliance.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be given to the Veterans State Cemetery at Alliance Foundation, P.O. Box 902, Alliance, Nebraska, 69301.
