The volumes in comparison to the 2012 volume for the same period were 117,610 pounds. This is a 5.76% rise for this quarter.
The largest raise was in the newspaper category by 6,423 pounds. The second largest raise was in shredded paper and the third item showing the most improvement was white paper.
2013 Yearly volumes stand at 431,613 pounds or 215.8 tons through the 3rd quarter. In 2012, yearly volumes were 422,100 or 211 tons through the 3rd quarter. The yearly increase through the 3rd quarter is 9,513 pounds or 4.75 tons or 2.25%.
Staff believes this may be because of the desire for pickups that residents and businesses have expressed. The cost of recycling has been kept low because of the current program. Although inconvenient to some, KAB has been able to establish a recycling program that is free because of the use of the drop-off trailers and encourages the county and community to take advantage of the program.
