The Alliance Public Library Concert Series will feature Kalin Krohe Reference Thursday, June 22 at 6:30 p.m. in the library rose garden. Krohe recently traveled from his Nebraska home to Nashville to record his debut EP, Bird or Machine, which released Feb. 25th as part of a Nebraska 150th event. Bring your lawn chairs and enter the garden on the east side of the library. Refreshments will be provided.
Sky View Golf Course will host the Veterans Cemetery Foundation tournament Saturday, June 17. Please call the golf course regarding play during the tournament.
The annual Doggie Dash will take place Saturday, June 17 at 10:00 a.m. starting at the Immanuel Lutheran School parking lot, proceeding east on Otoe Road to CR 58, then north ½ mile to The Animal Center. Please exercise caution while driving in this area during the event.
The Alliance Public Library Book Club will review, “Black Elk Speaks” by John G. Neihardt Tuesday, June 27 at 1:00 p.m. Copies of the book are available at the circulation desk and a small postage fee will apply.

The final installment of the lecture series at the Knight Museum and Sandhills Center offering reflections on relationships between Plains Indians and white settlers will be held Sunday, June 18 at 2:00 p.m. Amy Kucera and John Neihardt of the John G. Neihardt State Historic Site will present “Black Elk Speaks” by John G. Neihardt. A tour of the American Indian artifacts collection at the museum will be available following each lecture.
A special solar eclipse program will be held Tuesday, June 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. Dr. Peggy Norris will be speaking on her involvement in the NASA Balloon Eclipse project.
A dedication of the new signage at the Sallows Military Museum located at 1100 Niobrara Avenue will be held Thursday, June 22 at 6:00 p.m. The dedication will be presented by the Lester Jesse family and is open to the public. Refreshments will be served in the museum.
The Alliance Swim Team will host their annual home swim meet at Big Blue Bay Saturday, June 17. The pool will close at 6:00 p.m. Friday, June 16 to allow the Alliance Swim Team time to prepare for the meet. The pool will be closed to the general public Saturday, June 17 and will reopen Sunday, June 18.
