A June 14 fundraiser for two Box Butte County projects raised over $880.
Several Alliance Flack Avenue Businesses helped sponsor a Country Western dance at Midwest Farm Services owned by Del and Lorna Penlerick. This event was the idea of RexAnn Miller to have a get together that all ages of people could go to and feel safe and either listen to the music or dance.
At the time the committee began planning the event there had been little moisture but once plans were set in place for the event, it started snowing and raining.
Shane Keane and his band entertained the crowd and played a variety of music as well as fulfilling requests. Free will donations were accepted at the gate and the Lit’l Critters 4-H Club sold hot dogs and polish dogs along with drinks and chips.
The purpose was also to raise funds for the Cattle Capital Rodeo and Lit’l Critters 4-H Club so they could donate to “Raise the Roof” at the Box Butte County Fair Grounds. A check was presented at the Saturday night performance of the Cattle
Capital Rodeo in the amount of $440.44. On July 8, a check was presented to the Lit’l Critters 4-H Club for the same amount.
Raindance Committee members were Lorna Penlerick, RexAnn Miller (Bomgaars) and Dixie Nelson (Alliance Chamber of Commerce). Flack Avenue businesses and individuals that supported the event financially were RexAnn Miller, Alliance Tractor, Heartland Real Estate, Todd’s Body Shop, Midwest Farm Services, Dairy Queen, Alliance Animal Clinic, and the VFW.
The Alliance Chamber of Commerce worked to support the event both financially and with support help.
Due to the success of having a diverse group of attendees along with the venue and beautiful night (there was rain that night) the event is being planned for the same time next June.
The Committee said several times that they wanted to thank the public for attending and making the Raindance a success!
