During the evening hours of Thursday, August 9, investigators with the Nebraska State Patrol conducted alcohol inspections in Lincoln County.
This project was supported in whole or part by Grant # 93.959 under the SAMHSA Center for Substance Abuse Prevention, Region II Human Services, and the Nebraska DHHS Division of Behavioral Health.
In total, 12 businesses were inspected. Six of those businesses sold alcohol to a minor for a non-compliance rate of 50 percent. Four of the businesses that sold to a minor did not check ID.
The businesses which failed the inspections were:
Ozzie’s I-80 – Sutherland (Did not check ID, sold to minor)
The Bottle Stop – North Platte (Did not check ID, sold to minor)
Flying J Travel Center #687 – North Platte (Checked ID, sold to minor)
Time Saver #7 – North Platte (Checked ID, sold to minor)
Starting Gate – North Platte (Did not check ID, sold to minor)
Unreel Events – North Platte (Did not check ID, sold to minor)
The investigators inspected liquor stores, convenience stores, golf courses, and bars.
The Nebraska State Patrol performs these inspections in an effort to keep alcohol out of the hands of minors. Businesses which fail the inspections are referred to the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission. Clerks who sell alcohol to a minor are cited for procuring alcohol for a minor.
