North Platte standoff ends with suspect in police custody

North Platte Post 

North Platte, Neb. - After almost seven hours, the standoff situation at Burlington and McCabe ended with the suspect in custody.  

The suspect exited from his house sometime before 8:00pm and reportedly had his weapon with him. After several commands, he put his weapon down and surrendered. The suspect was taken to Great Plains Health for treatment.

It's reported that the man was firing a weapon outside his home. Around 2:23 pm, the North Platte Police Department issued a RAVE alert telling citizens to avoid the area of the 1500 block of Burlington as law enforcement was on scene handling the situation. Police set up barricades around the area to keep the public out. No more information has been released at this time.
