Alfred Lewandowski Jr. (1937 - 2024)

Alfred Lewandowski Jr., age 86 of Morrill Nebraska, who died April 7th 2024, at Sierra Hills Assisted Living facility in Cheyenne WY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 10:30 am at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Mitchell with Fr. Mike McDonald officiating. Burial will follow at the Mitchell Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 3 pm to 6 pm with a Rosary at 6 pm at Dugan Kramer Funeral Home in Scottsbluff. In lieu of plants and flowers a memorial has been established to benefit St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Mitchell. Fond memories and condolences may be left at www.dugankramer.com.

He was born October 19th 1937, at Broken Bow, to Alfred Lewandowski Sr. and Ila (Ash) Lewandowski and received his early education in Sunflower Elementary School, graduating from Mitchell High School, at the age of 16 and attending Kearney State College and graduated with his teaching degree in 1957. He could often be heard saying “I started teaching 19 year old kids in high school when I was 20.”

He married the love of this life Dorothy Sayer on August 23rd, 1958 at Cambridge Nebraska. They lived in Ohiowa and Riverton for a few years before moving to Meriman, where they lived from 1962-1967. The couple moved to Morrill in 1967, where they made their home and raised their children. Alfred was a teacher at Morrill Public Schools until 1999, where he taught multiple generations of students and their parents. He was a member of the St. Theresa’s Catholic Church parish attending Mass at St. Ann’s in Morrill. Al was an active 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid gardener and many people in the area got their plants and produce from him, usually free of charge.

Survivors include: Daughter Mary (John) Schneider of Cheyenne WY; Sons Randall (Tina) Lewandowski of Dallas TX, Robert (Debra) Lewandowski of Maricopa AZ, Rodney of Gering NE and Ronald (Stacy) of DeWitt NE; Daughter in-law Wendy Lewandowski of Torrington WY; Brother Kenneth Lewandowski of Bulverde TX and Sisters Deloreis Wilhem of Osceola NE and Donna Kay (Jerry) Hort of Lyman NE along with 14 Grandchildren and 8 Great grandchildren.
