On Monday, Former Husker and professional basketball player Jordan Hooper announced the formation of the Hooper/Hiemstra Basketball academy for young basketball players in the Panhandle.

Hooper said in a Facebook post that the basketball academy will be put on by herself and Mason and Randy Hiemstra and will be known as 'H2BA.'

Hooper stresses that the Academy will work with high school Coaches in the Panhandle and will offer an old school approach to the contemporary game of the sport.

"We see the need and we want to give western Nebraska a product we can all be proud of," Hooper said.

The academy will be offered to boys and girls for grades 3-5, 6-8, and high school, and the program will work with area high schools in the area.

Hooper says all of the details of the Academy have not been established, but for more information, you can message them at Hooper/Hiemstra Basketball Academy on Facebook.

Hooper and Hiemstra, both Alliance natives starred for the Bulldogs before having standout college careers, Hooper with Nebraska and Hiemstra with Hastings and Chadron State.
