The University of Nebraska in cooperation with equipment dealers and bean processing companies is planning a dry bean direct harvest equipment demonstration for later in September during this year’s bean harvest. The event will be located in a grower’s field in the Alliance area. The demonstration will be a come and go event from 1 in the afternoon until 6 PM.
The purpose of this demonstration is to provide an opportunity for dry bean growers and combine operators to learn more about the latest header models designed for direct harvest of dry edible beans. The machinery will be operating in the field and equipment reps will demonstrate options, adjustments and operating practices to minimize header loss during harvest.
Within 7 to 10 days of the demonstration, the exact field location and date will be announced by the equipment companies, bean processing companies, radio stations, emails and phone calls. The exact location and date will also be posted at the Box Butte County web site at boxbutte.unl.edu so be watching that site starting the second week in September.
John Deere, Gleaner, Case IH, New Holland and MacDon have been invited to participate in the equipment demonstration. Keep your eyes and ears open for the exact date and location and join us for an interesting and informative opportunity to see this equipment operate and talk to the equipment representatives about any of your questions.
