Welcome to the City of Alliance Activity Report!

– All City of Alliance offices will be closed on Monday, September 1 for the Labor Day holiday.  Regular office hours will resume on Tuesday, September 2.

– The Knight Museum and Sandhills Center will be open on Monday, September 1 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.

– The City of Alliance is accepting applications for the positions of Electric Superintendent, Airport Maintenance Worker I, Public Safety Dispatcher and Part Time Library Page.  For complete job descriptions, please access the City of Alliance website atwww.cityofalliance.net.

– The Knight Museum and Sandhills Center will be hosting the monthly Scrapbook Crop on Friday, September 5 and Saturday, September 6.  Please contact Becci at 762-2384 if you re interested in preserving your heritage through scrapbooking!

– Scrap Tire Amnesty Week will take place at the Alliance Landfill from Tuesday, September 9 through Saturday, September 13.  Landfill hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.  Tires must be removed from their rims and no tires will be taken from participants who have accepted fees to accumulate tires.  The maximum number of tires allowed per citizen is 100.  The amnesty will be discontinued when the qualified limit of 500 tons has been reached.

– Book Club will be held at the Senior Center at 212 Yellowstone on Friday, September 5 at 9:30 a.m.  Please call the Center at 762-1293 for more details!

– The Alliance City Council will conduct a regular meeting on Tuesday, September 2 at 7:00 p.m. in the Board of Education meeting room at 1604 Sweetwater Avenue.  Complete agendas and minutes may be found on the City of Alliance website.

– The first Brown Bag program of the season will be held Friday, September 5 at noon at the Alliance Public Library. Poe Ballentine will be discussing his book, “Love and Terror on the Howling Plains of Nowhere.”
