Dear Parents and Friends:
It is great to see how everyone has grown over the summer. I think the students are happy to be back. We have 128 students in K- 8 and 22 in our Busy Bunnies Preschool.
Thank you to all who helped with the installation of the playground equipment. It looks great and according to the kids, it works well.
We have new linoleum in the south hallway and bathrooms of the Parish Center. The hallways in the school have been painted and everything looks so nice and clean. Thank you to Charlie and Bill Monroe for their hard work.
We are trying something new this year regarding lunch time. The students play first and eat after recess. It works well for the younger kids because they aren’t rushing through their lunch to go out to play. The older kids don’t seem to mind. The lunchroom is much quieter. So far it is a success.
We need help in the lunchroom!! Each class will have a month that their parents should work in the lunchroom. August/ September is the eighth grade parents’ responsibility. October will be the responsibility of the 7th grade parents. Please call school and volunteer for your month. Volunteers are vital to the success of our lunch program!
I know that it is hot outside but please remember that you may not wear short shorts or spaghetti straps to school. You may wear shorts but they must be long. Wednesday is Mass day so everyone dresses up that day. This means no jeans, athletic shorts or pant, or t-shirts. Plain colored dress shirts and collared shirts work well.
On Tuesday, September 23, from 6 pm to 7:30 pm. Parents Inc. will have their Fall meeting with an open house to follow. Each family has a $10 fee to Parents Inc. This meeting is a good time to pay that fee and to volunteer for the many events that Parent Inc. sponsors throughout the year. (This is a change from the September calendar that was already printed.)
Parents Inc. will host an ice cream social on Friday at 3 pm on the playground, for SAA families.
Congratulations to the August calendar winners: Sam Hall of Alliance, Teri Dugan of Hemingford, Matthew Collins from Waverly, and Adam and Katie Martinek of Topeka, KS. All winners received $75.
Until next week,
Theresa Parker, Principal
