Two people from Torrington, Wyoming are in custody after attempting to escape law enforcement at Chadron State Park Monday morning.

The Nebraska State Patrol reports that a trooper spotted a pickup truck two miles south of Chadron State Park on U.S. Highway 385 that had been reported stolen from Gering. The northbound vehicle then pulled into Chadron State Park in an attempt to flee law enforcement.

The driver lost control of the vehicle and it crashed into a ravine. Two people then fled on foot.

Law enforcement, with the aid of an airplane, searched the area. The two people were found four hours later in hiding in a thick underbrush area and were arrested without incident.

The suspects, 37-year-old Bryon Six and 27-year-old Kari Gauze, were taken to the Dawes County Jail in Chadron.

Six and Gauze are also suspects in another vehicle theft in Torrington that is being investigated by the Torrington Police Dept.
