ED SHEERAN NOT FEELING SEXY
LOS ANGELES (AP) — You’d think being named one of the sexiest guys alive would be a big ego boost. Not so much, says Ed Sheeran. He says being named to the honor by People magazine isn’t the romantic game-changer it would seem on the surface. Sheeran says the designation hasn’t helped his confidence one bit — and he still can’t understand why he was named. But now that it has happened — Sheeran says there’s “no going back.” His new album “X” is now in stores.
INSANE CLOWN POSSE CASE BEING HEARD IN FEDERAL COURT
DETROIT (AP) — Are they music fans — or gang members? The dispute over an FBI description of Insane Clown Posse fans as a loosely organized gang has landed in court. Lawyers for the federal government and fans of the rap-metal duo are arguing in Detroit over whether the government can be sued for the description. Some Juggalos claim they have lost custody of their kids, lost out on jobs — and denied housing — because they like Insane Clown Posse. One man claims he couldn’t join the Army unless he removed or covered tattoos promoting the group. Lawyers for the feds say the suit is baseless because the Justice Department isn’t responsible for how police agencies used information in the 2011 gang report.
”AMERICAN IDOL” JUDGES TO RETURN
LOS ANGELES (AP) — There will be less “American Idol” to kick around this coming season. Fox says it will air fewer hours of the singing competition show — and that some weeks, there will be only episode, instead of two. Meanwhile, for the first time in years, there won’t be any shuffling among the judges. All three — Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Junior — will return for season 14. Idol’s ratings have steadily declined in recent years.
”AMERICAN IDOL” TOUR STARTS TODAY
WASHINGTON (AP) — “American Idol” winner Caleb Johnson is all business when it comes to the “Idol” tour. Johnson says his plan is to avoid hanging out with the others after a show and instead go straight to bed. He says he has to protect his voice. The others on the tour are looking forward to perfecting their stage presence. Runner-up Jena (JEE’-nah) Irene says doing shows every day means she can figure out what works and what doesn’t. Finalist MK Nobilette, who was criticized for her lack of stage presence, says she plans to up her game. The tour begins tonight in Binghamton, New York.
AEROSMITH’S UKRAINE SHOW CANCELED
KIEV, Ukraine (AP) — Aerosmith are calling off their show in Ukraine because of civil unrest there. A statement from the promoter National Corporation of Entertainment posted on the Aerosmith Web site says the July 2 concert in Kiev is canceled. They say they cannot ensure the safety of the artists, crew, audience or equipment. They say they hope Aerosmith will perform in Ukraine when there is peace and stability.
DIRTY ELVIS JUMPSUIT FOR SALE
NEW YORK (AP) — Someone has the gall to ask for $200,000 for an out-of-style gaudy jumpsuit with a broken zipper. It’s stained with sweat and has not been washed for 40 years. The clincher is that it’s a jumpsuit Elvis Presley wore during his Las Vegas shows. Sotheby’s auction house in New York will sell the jumpsuit today. It’s white with a blue peacock on it and Elvis’s sweat stains are still on it. Bob Dylan’s original handwritten lyrics to “Like A Rolling Stone” will also be sold today.
