CSC WBB 13 Ranta SD MinesChadron State’s Glen Clinton and  Kattie Ranta are the school’s 2013-14 winners the  Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Honor Student-Athlete Awards for outstanding achievement in both academics and athletics.

The RMAC annually recognizes one male and one female athletes from each of its member institutions with the student-athlete awards. The names of the CSC honorees are currently hanging in Armstrong Gymnasium.

Both Clinton and Ranta were exemplary team leaders and students.

Glen Clinton stiff armClinton, a senior tailback from Cody, Wyoming, graduated with a 3.60 GPA in biology in May and was a two-time Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-American.

On the field, Clinton was an All-American and Harlon Hill finalist in 2013 as he rushed for 1,518 yards and scored 14 touchdowns as a senior. He finished his career with 4,656 rushing yards, the second-most in school history.

Ranta, a senior from Rapid City, South Dakota, had a fine season for the women’s basketball team. She averaged 17.8 points and 9.2 rebounds in 26 games for the CSC women and was named All-RMAC and All-Nebraska for the second-straight season.

She currently has a 3.52 GPA in physical education and health as she prepares to do her student teaching in the fall semester.
