The game featured two very different halves. The Blues led by 12 at the half 38-26, but the Reds outscored them 35-18 after intermission.
The Reds took their first lead since the opening 2:00 at 59-56 on a 3-point by Chadron’s Ashley Kerr with :39 left. Morrill’s Kiley Guerue iced the game with a jumper with only :12 remaining.
Kerr led the Reds with 12 points while Guerue had 11, but MVP honors went to 5-3 guard Taylor Peters of Mitchell. She all had 11 points, 9 in the second half.
Sidney graduate Sarah Mahr of the Blues led all scorers with 15 points, but was the only member of her team to reach double-figures.
Chadron teammates Bailea Kerr and Peyton Hinn had 8 and 7 points, respectively for the Blues, while Katie O’Boyle, who has signed a letter of intent at Chadron State, added 6.
Rylee Trout of Alliance, who scored 5 points for the Blues, topped the 3 other competitors in the 3-point shooting contest and Hannah Grote of Sioux County received a $250 college scholarship from Panhandle Prep magazine.
