JOHN RICH STALKER GETS WARNING
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Stop messing around — or end up in jail. That’s the blunt warning a Nashville judge has given a man accused of stalking country music singer John Rich. The Tennessean reports the judge told Mark “Chris” Sevier he had to stop breaking rules the court has told him to follow, or risk incarceration. Sevier faces two counts of aggravated stalking and one count of criminal impersonation after being accused of stalking Rich and then stalking a 17-year-old girl separately from the music star. He has pleaded not guilty, is free on bond — and awaiting trial in October.
ROAD AND BRIDGE RENAMED FOR DUANE ALLEN OF OAK RIDGE BOYS
PARIS, Tex. (AP) — The road that runs just a few hundred yards past where Duane Allen of the Oak Ridge Boys was born is now named after him. A bridge was also renamed for Allen during a ceremony near Paris, Texas, last week. Allen says he used to ride his bike over that bridge to get to school, and having that named for him is better than if the Golden Gate Bridge had been renamed for him. Just to show he still cares about the community, Allen requested that the new road signs be put up in conjunction with the existing ones, so residents don’t have to change their address.
BARRY GIBB SELLS JOHNNY CASH PROPERTY
NASHVILLE (AP) — Barry Gibb has sold the former home of Johnny and June Carter Cash. The Nashville Tennessean reports Gibb and his wife, Linda, sold the property to a limited liability company for $2 million. They bought the property in $2.3 million in 2006. The Cashes lived there for more than 40 years. The Gibbs had planned to renovate the property and were almost done with the project when it caught fire and destroyed the house. The Gibbs had announced plans to build a new house and preserve the original foundations of the home.
”AMERICAN IDOL” GOES COUNTRY AND ROCK
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Keith Urban got his first boos as a judge on “American Idol” last night. He was booed for saying Alex Preston failed to dominate with his version of “Animal.” He got booed again for saying he hated the arrangement Jessica Meuse gave to “Jolene.” Jennifer Lopez got what she calls “goosies” twice last night: once for Sam Woolf on “It’s Time” and once for Jena Irene’s version of “So Small.” The judges had just lukewarm marks for CJ Harris. They were practically giving high-fives to Caleb Johnson for losing his microphone stand but still managing to stay on the beat on “Sting Me.”
