Northwest Community Action Partnership is holding an English Tea this afternoon at 3:00 at the Chadron Arts Center to recognize two Dawes County women being honored by Nebraska First Lady Sally Ganem for their community service efforts.
74-year old Ardith Morse of Chadron will receive the First Lady’s National Service Award while 80-year old Donna Moore of Crawford will receive the Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award next Friday at an awards ceremony in Omaha.
The nomination for Ardith Morse cites her work as a foster grandparent at the Pine Ridge Job Corps Center teaching English to youth from other countries, as well as volunteering at the Dawes County Historical Museum, Chadron Arts Center, the NCAP office, the Dawes County Fair, and the Chadron Senior Center.
Donna Moore was cited for 25 years of volunteering for many groups and events, arranging for volunteer ushers at the Fort Robinson Post Playhouse, manning both the Crawford RSVP office and the Crawford tourism information booth, and organizing a Christmas a toy drive, the food pantry and a giving tree.
