PITBULL AND PLAYBOY TEAM UP

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Pitbull and Playboy are getting into bed together. They have what Playboy calls “a strategic partnership” with the hip-hop star, merging their two worlds. The first product of the partnership is an upcoming video featuring Pitbull, shot at the Playboy Mansion in California. Pitbull says it’s an honor — and declares he’s “the new Playboy, Armando Christian Perez,” his given name.

”THE VOICE” HAS A ROUND ROBIN OF STEALING

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Adam Levine is upset he used up his steals already on “The Voice.” When Blake Shelton chose Audra McLaughlin (mik-LOK’-lihn) over Alaska and Madi (MAD’-ee), Usher still had a steal left that he didn’t use. Levine told Usher he was crazy not to steal them and he chased the duo down to tell them he was mad he couldn’t do anything. The other three had plenty of steals, though. Team Blake stole Tess Boyer from Team Usher, Shakira stole Josh Murley from Team Adam and Usher stole Music Box from Team Shakira. The battle rounds continue tonight.

RIHANNA WINS FASHION ICON AWARD

NEW YORK (AP) — She doesn’t often wear a lot in the selfies you see her post on her various social media sites. But when she does decides to dress up, Rihanna gets as much attention as she does when she take her casual shots. Rihanna has earned an icon award from The Council of Fashion Designers of America, Incorporated. The award is given to one whose style has had an effect on worldwide pop culture — and will be presented on June 2 in New York. Past winners include Lady Gaga, Iman, Kate Moss and Nicole Kidman.

NEON TREES SINGER COMES OUT AS GAY

NEW YORK (AP) — Neon Trees singer Tyler Glenn reveals he’s gay and has known it since he was a child. Glenn tells Rolling Stone he had crushes on guys in high school but it didn’t become overwhelming until he got into his 20s. He says it was the worst feeling in the world to be dating girls and be in love with his straight friend. Glenn told his friends and family in October about his sexuality. He addresses his feelings in the songs on Neon Trees’ upcoming album, “Pop Psychology.”

AGAINST ME! SINGER FEELS LIBERATED ON NEW ALBUM

NEW YORK (AP) — The singer for Against Me! says she can finally sing the right way. Laura Jane Grace — formerly Tom Gabel — came out as transgender two years ago. Grace says the title of the latest Against Me! album, “Transgender Dysphoria Blues,” is self-explanatory. She says she can finally sing about her feelings so that they’re interpreted correctly and taken from the correct perspective. She says it was good to make an album with a lack of frustration.

ODERUS URUNGUS OF GWAR FOUND DEAD

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death for Dave Brockie, AKA Oderus Urungus of GWAR. He was found dead in his home in Richmond, Virginia, on Sunday. Police do not suspect foul play. Brockie was 50. Lamb of God singer Randy Blythe says if he was truly to honor Brockie, he’d make a completely tasteless joke about his death, but he doesn’t have the stomach for that. Brockie started GWAR in 1984. The band was known for alien monster costumes, spraying bodily fluids on audiences and scatological and obscene lyrics. Their last album, “Battle Maximus,” came out last year. Guitarist Cory Smoot, AKA Flattus Maximus, had been found dead on the band’s tour bus in 2011.

ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND POSTPONE CONCERTS

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Allman Brothers Band are postponing the last four dates of their residency at New York’s Beacon Theater. Gregg Allman is still recovering from bronchitis. The dates affected are tonight, tomorrow, Friday and Saturday. The band say without Allman, they are “unable to perform at the level to which they aspire.”

BILLY JOEL GETS SATELLITE RADIO CHANNEL

NEW YORK (AP) — Billy Joel is getting his own satellite radio channel. SiriusXM is rolling out an exclusive channel featuring his music. The Billy Joel Channel launches tomorrow — and will run through June 25. It will feature Joel’s work over the past 50 years, as well as interviews with the singer and songwriter. The Billy Joel Channel will also be available online and through the SiriusXM Internet Radio App.

CHRISSIE HYNDE PLANS NEW ALBUM

NEW YORK (AP) — Chrissie Hynde is putting out an album under her own name for the first time, but she refuses to call it a solo album. Hynde says making this album was more of a collaboration than any Pretenders album ever was. Hynde will release “Stockholm” on June 10. It features collaborations with Neil Young and John McEnroe, the ex-tennis star turned guitarist. It was produced by Bjorn Yttling of Peter, Bjorn and John.
