MARK FOSTER NOT GOING FOR HITS SECOND TIME AROUND

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Mark Foster says it’s tempting for a band that has had a hit song on an album to try to crank out another hit on their next project. He says often the result is that the follow-up “stuff ends up sounding like Budweiser commercials.” So he says, he didn’t bother trying to write a follow up hit to their 2011 song “Pumped Up Kicks.” Foster says he isn’t interested in trying to create another hit because “it’s not going to come from an authentic place of expression.” He says Foster the People is a band, not a corporation.

”AMERICAN IDOL’S” MK NOBILETTE IS PROUD OF BEING OPEN

LOS ANGELES (AP) — MK Nobilette believes she had people voting against her on “American Idol” because she’s a lesbian, and she had people voting for her because she’s a lesbian. Nobilette says she hopes she’s a role model for other people who might be afraid to come out about their sexuality. She hopes she’s also shown them that they can do something as big as American Idol.

CITY PAYS TED NUGENT $16,000 TO END NEGOTIATIONS

LONGVIEW, Texas (AP) — The city of Longview, Texas, is paying Ted Nugent more than $16,000 to get rid of him. Nugent was under consideration to headline the city’s Independence Day celebration. City spokesman Shawn Hara tells the Longview News-Journal Nugent’s controversial comments have been one factor in calling off negotiations, as well as whether he’d be right for a family oriented event. In January, Nugent called President Barack Obama a “subhuman mongrel.” That came into play in February when Nugent campaigned for Texas gubernatorial candidate Greg Abbott, who says he does not endorse such language. The $16,000 is about half of Nugent’s performance fee. Nugent could not be reached for comment.at Sotheby’s June 4th in New York.)
