DEMI LOVATO CRITICIZES LADY GAGA’S VOMIT PERFORMANCE
UNDATED (AP) — Demi Lovato is calling out Lady Gaga for getting vomited on. Lady Gaga performed at South By Southwest in Austin, Texas, on Thursday, and part of her show included a performance artist throwing up on her. Lovato tweeted, “As if we didn’t have enough people glamorizing eating disorders already.” Lovato struggled with eating disorders and addiction. She added, “Would you let someone bring a needle and shoot up on you? Addiction is addiction.” Lovato also said, “Putting the word ART in it isn’t a free card to do whatever you want without consequences.” However, Lovato says she’s still a Lady Gaga fan, adding, “I’m still a little monster myself.”
LADY GAGA HAD PLANNED TO QUIT MUSIC
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Lady Gaga says she was ready to call it quits — rather than bow to the pressures of the music industry. In a wide-ranging chat as part of the keynote session at South By Southwest, Gaga says she refuses to compromise to the point where she wouldn’t want to perform anymore. She says if that were to happen — quote: “I will stop. I will quit, I will retire from the commercial market.” It’s been a rough go of it lately for the singer. She had hip surgery last year — which forced her to take time off the road. She also had a split with her manager — and has been having trouble getting her latest album sold. “ARTPOP” dropped last November — but has only moved 673,773 copies. By comparison, her “Born This Way” album sold 1.1 million copies in its first week.
CHRIS BROWN BEING HELD WITHOUT BAIL ON PROBATION VIOLATION
LOS ANGELES (AP) — It’s been more than five years since Chris Brown beat up Rihanna the night before the Grammys. Since then, he has not served any time behind bars for that attack. Until now, that is. Brown was arrested Friday and is being held without bail. He was busted on a warrant issued by probation officials after he got kicked out of his latest rehab assignment. Officials at the rehab facility say they booted Brown because he failed to follow the rules. No details were released. But Brown is due in court today — and prosecutors are expected to provide specifics then. Brown’s probation for the Rihanna assault was to end this year. But a judge revoked it last year after Brown was arrested on a misdemeanor assault charge in Washington. That case is pending.
KISS DOING BATTLE WITH ROCK HALL
NEW YORK (AP) — Kiss is continuing its public spat with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Paul Stanley says members of the band are upset because the Hall refused to induct members Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer along with the original lineup. Stanley says the Rock Hall is being unfair — and that the organization has tweaked its rules for other acts. For example, Stanley says when the Grateful Dead was inducted, the Rock Hall also included Robert Hunter, who Stanley describes as “a writer who never played an instrument.” Kiss is to be inducted into the Rock Hall on April 10 in New York. But Kiss has declared on its Web site they won’t perform on the induction program.

CHICAGO (AP) — Zakk Wylde’s guitar has been stolen and you’ll know it if you see it, because it’s the distinctive black-and-white bull’s eye guitar that’s his signature instrument. The Chicago Tribune reports Wylde played a set as part of the Experience Hendrix tour in Chicago Friday and put the guitar on his bus, then went back inside to watch the rest of the show. His leather vest and his guitar were gone when he got back. Surveillance footage shows three men entering the bus after Wylde’s tour manager forgot to lock the door. Wylde says his tour manager feels “beyond horrendous (and) beyond embarrassed.” The guitar is one of two with the bull’s eye paint job and Wylde estimates it’s worth $10,000.

JENNIFER HOLLIDAY MAKING A COMEBACK
ATLANTA (AP) — Before there was Jennifer Hudson with her Oscar-winning performance as Effie in “Dreamgirls,” there was another Jennifer who blew people away with her heavy-duty voice on the torch song “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going.” That was Jennifer Holliday. But since her Dreamgirls days, little has gone right for the singer. Holliday has dealt with clinical depression, weight issues, multiple sclerosis, bankruptcy, temporary blindness — and tried to commit suicide on her 30th birthday. Holliday is now trying to make her way back. She has dropped her first solo album in two decades. She has also dropped a lot of weight — more than 200 pounds from the high of 400 she once weighed. Holliday says appearing on “American Idol” with finalist Jessica Sanchez two years ago helped get her career back on track — and convinced her than perhaps she should be singing again.
