A rural Alliance woman has been awarded $2,500 from the America’s Farmers Grow Communities which she will donate to the Alliance Volunteer Fire Department.
The program, sponsored by Monsanto, works directly with farmers to support nonprofit organizations doing important work in rural communities. The program encourages farmers to enter to win $2,500, which is then directed to the farmer’s nonprofit of choice. Launched nationally in 2011, the program has grown to include 1,289 eligible counties in 39 states.
Mrs. Kym Ackerman will present the $2,500 to the Alliance Fire Department during a ceremony at the Alliance Fire Hall on Wednesday, March 12 at 7 pm.
Past Box Butte County winners include Dan and Julie Oligumueller, who donated their $2,500 to the Box Butte County Fair’s Raise the Roof campaign; Dr. Bruce Forney, who donated the $2,500 to the United Way; and Tim Kumpf, who donted his $2,500 to the Hemingford FFA Chapter.
