The new superintendent of the Michael J. Fitzmaurice State Veterans Home in Hot Springs is a South Dakota native. Bradley Richardson of Aberdeen will take over June 11 as construction on a new main building continues.
State Veterans Affairs Secretary Larry Zimmerman says Richardson brings a great background to the job with more than 29 years of leadership, experience and knowledge in military health care and health care management.
Richardson has spent the past 4 years as director of military medical regional training site in Tomah, Wisconsin, that serves over 100 medical units and 10,000 military medical professionals in a 17-state region.
Before that, he held several positions in the Southern Regional Medical Command at Fort Sam Houston, including Chief of Operations, was Chief Human Resources Officer at the Army hospital at Fort Wainwright, and Division Operations Officer for the Health Resources Command in St Louis.
Richardson says he’s anxious to return to his native state while continuing to help provide the best possible care to veterans.
