The consulting company hired by the city of Chadron to help create a Downtown Revitalization Plan will present its draft version to the city council and the public Monday night at 6:00 in the City Hall Council Chambers.
Urban Development Services held meetings with several dozen local residents and leaders last fall for input on strategies and actions to make the downtown business district more appealing, functional and profitable, then returned last month for reactions on some preliminary ideas.
Owner Scott Day says Monday’s meeting is intended to give local residents and leaders a chance for a final set of comments before the final version of the plan is presented to the city council for final action later this month.
Day says his company, which prepared a similar downtown revitalization plan for Scottsbluff a couple years ago, is committed to getting as much community input as possible when preparing such plans.
Chadron was awarded a $23,500 state planning grant for the plan last year and will be able to apply for a second phase implementation grant of up to $300,000 when the plan is adopted. The application deadline for the second grant is the end of this month.
