The Box Butte Development Corporation (BBDC) is currently conducting a Housing Study to determine both the present and future housing needs of the Community for the next five years. BBDC and the City of Alliance are partnering with the Nebraska Investment Finance Authority (NIFA) in funding the Housing Study. The City of Alliance is being assisted by Hanna:Keelan Associates, P.C., a Lincoln, Nebraska based community planning and research consulting firm.
Three Surveys are currently in distribution across the City of Alliance. The first, a Housing “Citizen” Survey, is available at the following locations: Box Butte Central (Chamber and BBDC Office), Western Nebraska Community College, Alliance Public Library, Knight Museum and Sandhills Center. An online version of this Survey is also available on the City of Alliance, Alliance Times Herald and BBDC websites. The Housing “Citizen” Survey must be completed and returned to the BBDC Office (305 Box Butte Avenue) by March 26th. Completed Surveys will be eligible for a $100 Chamber Bucks Drawing.
Second, a Continuum of Care for Elderly Persons Household Survey will look to determine both the short- and long-term housing needs of elderly persons and families in the Alliance Area. This Survey will be available at the following locations: Box Butte Central, Alliance Public Library, Knight Museum, Sandhills Center and the Alliance Senior Center. Elderly persons in the City are encouraged to pick up, complete and return this Survey to these same locations by Tuesday, March 18th.
Third, a Workforce Housing Needs Survey is being distributed to selected major employers in the Community, to determine housing needs of the City’s workforce.
