BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) — “American Hustle” could be a little closer to hustling up an Oscar. American Hustle won several Golden Globe Awards last night, including best picture for a comedy or musical. Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence win Golden Globes for their roles in the film.
The award for best movie drama went to “12 Years a Slave.”
Matthew McConaughey won the Golden Globe for best actor in a drama for “Dallas Buyers Club” and Cate Blanchett wins actress in a drama for “Blue Jasmine.”
Leonardo DiCaprio won his second Globe for his best actor in a comedy for his work in “The Wolf of Wall Street.”
The Golden Globes saved the best for last for “Breaking Bad.” The show won best TV drama for its last season on AMC. Creator Vince Gilligan says it’s “one more chance to thank the fans of the show.” Bryan Cranston won the TV acting honors for his role of meth-making high school teacher Walter White. Cranston says it’s “a lovely way to say goodbye.”
”Behind the Candelabra” wins the best TV movie Globe. Michael Douglas wins best actor for his performance as Liberace in the HBO movie. Matt Damon was also nominated. Douglas says the only reason he won is that he “had more sequins.”
Andy Samberg wins best actor in a comedy TV series, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and Amy Poehler got the TV comedy actress honors for “Parks and Recreation.” Poehler and Tina Fey hosted the Globes for the second-straight time.
They’re signed for next year, too. Fey says it’s Hollywood, “If something kind of works, they’ll just keep doing it until everyone hates it.”
