Efficiencies in local law enforcement headlined a joint meeting between the Alliance City Council and the Box Butte County Commissioners earlier this week.
The two parties agreed to meet jointly on a quarterly basis with the mission of improving local government.
Alliance City Manager J.D. Cox says discussion of the possiblity of consolidating the police and sheriff’s dispatch departments has resulted in the forming of a task force consisting of Commissioner Doug Hashman and council member Trent Benzel.
Cox says the consolidation discussion originated over the fact that a call to the city police department cannot be transferred to the Box Butte County Sheriff’s office.
