Week Four of KCOW’s Cooking Wars contest was a feast of autumn colors and diverse flavors for our five judges.
Laura Furrow’s Pumpkin Parfait effortlessly combined tangy pineapple with pumpkin cake, and its stylish appearance reminded the judges of a dessert served at a fancy restaurant.
This week, competitors had to include pumpkin, buttermilk, pineapple and pudding in their recipe. In addition to Laura’s winning parfait (one of two highly scored parfaits in the running), the judges tasted cookies, cakes, a protein shake–even a cheeseball–all featuring the four key ingredients.
Laura wins a $25 gift certificate from Alliance Floral Hoffhaus/1910, and now has a spot reserved in next week’s final showdown for a $250 Grocery Kart shopping spree. Other Cooking Wars sponsors include Homestead Diner, Sam and Louies, and Frosted.
The four key ingredients for the final showdown will be announced this Friday between 9:00 and 10:00am on KCOW.
