The Nebraska State Veterans’ Cemetery at Alliance Foundation will host a program and reception, which is open to the public, to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address.
A bronze plaque of the address will be presented to the cemetery.
The original address was delivered on November 19, 1863.
The commemoration ceremony will be held at the Committal Shelter of the State Veterans’ Cemetery on Tuesday, November 19, at 1 pm. The plaque portrays an image of President Lincoln and sets forth all of the words of the original address.
Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address was part of a ceremony dedicating a portion of the Gettysburg battlefield as a cemetery for those who had lost their lives in battle which raged from July 1 through July 3, 1863 near Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
