BRIGHT NAMED OUTSTANDING BOX BUTTE COUNTY 4-H MEMBER

The annual Box Butte County 4-H Achievement Night was held Sunday night with a packed house at the Box Butte County Fairgrounds Multi-Purpose Hall in Hemingford.

Several awards were presented, including:

Abby Bright, a sophomore at Hemingford High School, was named the Outstanding 4-H Member;

Bright also won the Ida Fodnes Memorial Consumer and Family Science All Around Award:

Jayce Meyring, a fifth-grader in Hemingford, was the Large Animal All-Around Award winner;

Lane Applegarth, an eighth grader at Alliance St. Agnes, was the Small Animal All Around Award recipient;

Emily Jensen, a junior at Alliance High School, was the Herdsmanship Award winner;

Roy Kesterson, a senior at Alliance High School, was presented the I Dare You Award.

Amber Edwards was named the Outstanding 4-H Leader Award;

Jay and Shauna Meyring were presented the Heart of 4-H Award;

while fair board president John Annen was presented a special Raise the Roof jacket for his leadership in getting the new livestock barn constructed. 

Also, Kathryn Hood was recognized for serving as a Box Butte County 4-H volunteer for 50 years.

The Box Butte County 4-H program sports 237 members.
