At two o’clock Halloween afternoon, the National Weather Service recording station at the Alliance Airport clocked a wind gust of 48 mph. At the same time, 18 miles to the northwest, the Hemingford Bobcats football team had already blown their first round playoff opponent off the field.
Taking advantage of the wind, Hemingford scored the first time its offense touched the football, and went on to roll, 64-8, over Franklin in the Class D-1 Playoffs.
Hemingford led 22-0 after the first quarter; and then managed to add another 26 points in the second quarter while facing the wind to lead 48-0 at halftime. The Cats led 64-0 at the end of the third quarter; and won the game, 64-8.

Franklin ends the season with a record of 3-6, Hemingford improves to 9-0.
Hemingford will next host Chambers/Wheeler Central on Wednesday, November 6. Kickoff is set for 1:30 pm. The game will be broadcast live on Double Q Country Radio, 105.9 FM in Alliance.
