Michael Shane Hood, 36, died Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at his home.

Shane was born September 12, 1977 at Alliance, Nebraska to Michael L. and Lois A. (Knaub) Hood.

Shane lived in Alliance for most of his life but had also lived in Sheridan, Wyoming.  He loved his dog Tippie, fishing, and being in the mountains and outdoors.  He also had a great artistic ability and enjoyed portrait drawing and tattoo design.  Shane worked at Kmart for two years before he was diagnosed with cancer.  He loved his job and co-workers and making people laugh and smile.  He especially enjoyed drinking coffee in the mornings with his Grandma Knaub.

He is survived by his mother and step-father, Lois (Dan) Robertson of Alliance; his father and step-mother, Michael and (Marilyn) Hood of Sheridan, WY; sisters, Michelle (Vaun) Kipper of Longmont, CO, Stephanie (Josh) Cole of Sheridan, WY, and Heather (Jon) Zimmerman of Valparaiso, NE; his half-brothers, Matthew Hood and Nathan Hood both of Sheridan, WY; step-brothers, D.J. (Julie) Robertson of Beardstown, IL, and Tony Miller of Williston, ND; and his step-sisters, Shawnetta (Matt) Larson of Newport, NC, Rheannon (Bryon) deCastro of Sheridan, WY, and Amber Miller of Buffalo, WY.  He is also survived by his grandmother, Wilma Knaub of Alliance; his step-grandmother, Helen Johner of Beulah, ND; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Omer and Ella Hood, Loyd Knaub, and Pete Johner, his aunt Patricia Martin, and his uncle Richard Hood.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bates-Gould Chapel with Gene Nerland officiating.  Cremation will follow the services.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the family present to greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Memorials may be given to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Chet Whaley Foundation or Prairie Haven Hospice.
