Her memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with LeRoy Sandford, Edwina Carlson and Joyce Tuttle officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Mitchell City Cemetery in Mitchell.

Mary was the daughter of Antonio and Francisca (Ramirez) Mendoza, born in Midland, Texas, May 29, 1940. She attended only Mitchell Elementary School, and even though she had no real formal education, she was a very intelligent woman. Mary raised her six children in the Valley and raised them to be God fearing adults.
Mary was a United States Presidential recognized Foster Grandparent with Community Action Partnership of Western Nebraska and loved working with the children in the Head Start Program as Grandma Mary. She was a child of God and surrounded herself by the faithful.
She is survived by her children and their families, Frances (Dagoberto) Lugo of Manhattan, Kansas, Patricia (William) Rodgers of Glendale, Arizona, Sara (Fernando Sr.) Moreno of Minatare, Hernando (Mari) Peña of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Paulo Peña of Mesa, Arizona, and Naomi Peña of Scottsbluff; 29 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; six sisters and brothers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and sisters, and one grandchild.
