Ullrich Kelli photo0001Kelli Lynn (Frerichs) Ullrich, 54, of Mitchell, NE passed away October 21, 2013 in Bryan LGH at Lincoln with her loving family by her side after a brief illness. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 26, 2013, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 25, 2013 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff.   Online condolences can be sent to Memorials may be sent to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mitchell High School Memorial Scholarship fund, and Community Christian School.

Kelli was born February 22, 1959 at Ogallala Community Hospital. She was the oldest of four children born to Carlin R. Frerichs and Ruth E. (Rohlfing) Frerichs. Her baptism took place at Grace Lutheran Church in Lewellen.  She attended a one -room country school for kindergarten and 1st grade and then attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School until the 8th grade. She reaffirmed her baptism at her confirmation in 1973. She graduated from Ogallala High School in 1977. She attended Nebraska Western College in Scottsbluff for two years obtaining an Associate’s Degree in Business.  She then attended Colorado Mountain College in Glenwood Springs, where she obtained an Associate’s Degree in Photography in 1982. She pursued her photography career in Denver, Colorado until she moved back to Scottsbluff. On August 20, 1988, Kelli was united in marriage to Robert (Bob) Ullrich at St. John’s Lutheran Church. They celebrated their 25th anniversary this year with a remarkable trip through the Colorado Mountains where she indulged her love of photography.

She worked for Downey’s Fine Photography and Wilson King Commodities upon returning to Scottsbluff. On August 9, 1993, Kelli was blessed to begin her ultimate career—motherhood—when son Tanner Wade was born. But once Tanner reached school age, Kelli knew she would need another career. In 1999, she graduated from Chadron State College with a degree in elementary education. She taught elementary school in Scottsbluff, at Roosevelt Elementary and Community Christian School for five years. In 2002, Bob and Kelli received another blessing: five-year-old Jesse Nelson. Jesse lived with them for five years and remains their loving daughter.

When Tanner started middle school in Mitchell, Kelli followed obtaining a teaching position in the elementary school. In 2010, she received a Masters in Reading from Creighton University and began teaching middle-school reading. Kelli was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She touched many lives especially through her teaching, family, friends, and church activities. No words can describe how she will be missed.

Survivors include her husband, Bob Ullrich and children, Tanner Ullrich and Jesse Nelson all of Mitchell; her mother, Ruth Frerichs of Ogallala; sisters: Kristi Stingley of Gering and Kari Young and her husband Larry of Ogallala; a brother Kevin Frerichs and his wife Peggy of Ogallala, numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father.
