APS BOARD APPROVES FACILITIES FEE SCHEDULE (With Audio)

On Monday, October 21, the Alliance School Board adopted a rate schedule for facilities use.

However, several youth sports coaches, sponsors, parents, and  fine arts supporters attended the meeting and spoke against the fee schedule.   Below are excerpts from some of the speakers:

Some of the approved facility guidelines and fee schedule include:

– School facilities will not be available for use by rental groups on the following holidays: Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday.

– NO alcoholic beverages will be permitted at any time. Any violation of this rule may jeopardize future use and may result in arrest.

– Sunday and Wednesday Night use is discouraged and will only be permitted under special circumstances.

 CLASS I, II, or II, – NO FEE

Free use of school facilities may be granted to the following organizations or groups, provided that membership is composed of not less than 75 percent local residents and is open to participation by any local citizen.

I. SCHOOL AFFILIATED GROUPS – PTA, teacher’s associations, scholarship associations, school committees, booster clubs, council of school associations, county or state school performances, etc.

II. YOUTH SERVICE – Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H, Brownies, youth coaches and sponsors for organized teams, YMCA, etc.

III. AGENCIES WHICH HAVE ON FILE WITH ALLIANCE PUBLIC SCHOOLS A CURRENT INTER LOCAL AGREEMENT.

Special Charges

Class I groups that request use of facilities for Saturdays, Sundays, or other permissible time that requires extra custodial help, cafeteria help, fire guards, police or technicians’ costs may be charged the exact extra costs incurred. School affiliated Class I are exempt but encouarged not to plan activities for Saturdays and Sundays. If Class I, II, or III groups use facilities for fund-raising or charge admission, they wil be required to pay service costs.

 CLASS IV

Class IV groups include those which exist to provide a humanitarian, educational, or cultural service to the local community. Such groups include but are not limited to the Shriners of North America, the Alliance Arts Council, the Alliance Community Choir, and ad hoc groups which will donate earnings to a school board approved use. Class IV groups will comply with their own liability insurance. Class IV groups may not include religious entities which will engage in fund-raising or the promotion of religion or any political view.

 CLASS V

Classs V are all other groups and are subject to the outlined schedule of fees.

Schedule of Rental Fees

The rental fees on the Building Rental Agreement form will be followed. Copies of the Facility Rental Agreement forms may be obtained at Administrative offices or on line.

Fee Schedule – Refers to in-house rental only. No property may be removed from any building.

Custodial Services per person per hour – $30

Technical Services per person per hour – $30

Food Services per person per hour – $30

PERFORMING ARTS CENTER

To any fee, add custodial services and, if required, techical and /or food services

Theater/stage/dressing room – Class IV $100; Class IV $300

Commons Area – Class IV $75; Class V $150

Graduation reception per user Class V $30

 FOOD SERVICE FACILITIES

AMS Kitchen/Servery – Class IV $30; Class V $60

AMS Kitchen – Class IV $30; Class V $60

Grandview – Class IV $25; Class V $25

Emerson – Class IV $25; Class V $25

GYMNASIUMS

Includes dressings rooms, PA and scoreboard, if applicable

AHS Gym – Class IV $100; Class V $300

AHS Multipurpose Room – Class IV $50; Class V $100

AMS Gym – Class IV $50; Class V $100

Grandview Gym – Class IV $50; Class V $100

Emerson Gym – Class IV $50; Class V $100

Burkholder Education Center Gym – Class IV $50; Class V $100

Bleachers per level – Class IV $25; Class V $30

Preparation per hour (chair setup and take down, floor cover installation) Class IV $30; Class V $30

 CLASSROOMS

Distance Learning – Class IV $15; Class V $30

Generic Classroom – Class IV $10; Class V $20

 BULLDOG STADIUM

Includes restrooms, press box, scoreboard, and equipment in the storage chutes

Field/Track – Class IV $150; Class V $300

Lights per hour – Class IV $10; Class V $10

Field Prep – Class IV $50; Class V $100

Concession Stand – Class IV $25; Class V $50
