Kim ConroyGovernor Dave Heineman has promoted Kimberly Conroy of Papillion to Tax Commissioner and head of the Nebraska Department of Revenue, replacing Doug Ewald, who left for the private sector.

The 53-year old Conroy has been the deputy commissioner for 5 years and before that was director of the department’s Compliance Division and workd in the Union Pacific Railroad’s tax department.

An attorney, shse received an associate’s degree from McCook Community College, a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Nebraska College of Law.

Conroy says she’s honored byb the governor’s appointment and appreciative of his trust in her to “work diligently with both the citizens of the state and the department’s employees in fairly and efficiently administering the revenue laws of the state.”

As Tax Commissioner and director of the Revenue department, Conroy will be responsible for not only collecting state revenue but also for developing of policies and procedures for collecting revenue at both the state and local levels.
