The Chadron State College volleyball team came tantalizing close to getting its first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference victory of the season Saturday at home, but came up just short against Fort Lewis.

The Skyhawks did sweep the Eagles, but none of the sets were decided by more than 3 points…25-22, 25-23, 26-24…and the match featured 16 ties and 5 lead changes. With the win, Fort Lewis improves to 5-11 on the season and 5-5 in the RMAC. CSC drops to 3-14 and 0-8.

Fort Lewis hit .225 as a team behind Ashley Wells, who  had 13 kills, and Madi Bickle, who added 10.

Barbie DeCent led Chadron State with 10 kills while Jessica Jester and Erika Roybal had 8 apiece, Jester also adding 2 blocks.

Alyssa Bauer had a match-high 23 digs and ran down several balls out of the court, Mariah Conyers added 17 set assist, Nikki Schmidt had 3 blocks and Alia Brennan two.

The Eagles are back in action at home again next weekend, hosting Western New Mexico on Friday night and New Mexico Highlands on Saturday.
