CHADRON – The Chadron State College volleyball team will entertain two western Colorado teams this weekend—Colorado Mesa on Friday night and Fort Lewis on Saturday night. Both matches will start at 6 o’clock in the Armstrong Gymnasium.
The Friday night match with Colorado Mesa is Think Pink breast cancer awareness night and all fans are asked to wear pink to support their support breast cancer awareness.
Both Mesa and Fort Lewis defeated Adams State and Western State in action last weekend.
The Mesa Mavericks are 12-2 overall and 5-1 in conference play, losing only to CSU-Pueblo in a five-set match that saw Mesa win twice by 25-13 margins, but fall in the remaining three. Their leaders include 6-2 junior Melissa Hess, who has 135 kills and 35 hitting infraction while posting a .368 hitting percentage.
Fort Lewis is just 3-11 overall and 3-3 in the RMAC. The Skyhawks’ top guns include 5-11 Ashley Wells, who has 165 kills and 92 hitting errors for a .152 percentage. Overall, Fort Lewis is hitting just .112 while the foes are hitting .200.
After falling to South Dakota Mines in Rapid City in non-conference action on Tuesday night, the Eagles are 3-12 overall and 0-6 in the RMAC.
The Eagles are hitting .105 and the opponents .192. Senior Barbie DeCent has been the Eagles’ most efficient hitter, collecting 110 kills and 63 errors for a .144 hitting figure.
