Miley_Cyrus_Bangerz_Album_CoverNEW YORK (AP) — Miley Cyrus is getting a lot of criticism for her recent antics, she is also getting some love from rap stars — and producers who make hip-hop music.

For example, Pharrell worked the board on some of the songs on Cyrus’ new album — and she’s featured on albums from Snoop Lion, and in at least one video and a remix. She also has Nelly, Big Sean and others on her new album “Bangerz.”

While some in the hip-hop world are gravitating toward Cyrus, others see her popularity in the genre as more of a flavor of the month type of thing. Some have questioned her use of twerking and other things as a way of swiping black culture to burnish her pop credentials. And Questlove of The Roots says Cyrus’ collaborations are little more than — as he put it — “Miley using us as accessories.” Questlove says while he’s all for collaborations, he doesn’t want Cyrus to think blacks are “just good for twerking” and having big butts.
