An Alliance native will be making her fourth consecutive appearance at the Miss Nebraska pageant in North Platte next June.
2009 Alliance High School graduate Megan Dimmitt was crowned Miss High Plains in Ogallala Saturday night at the Miss High Plains and Miss Lake McConaughy pageant.
Dimmitt has now held the titles of Miss Alliance, Miss Panhandle, Miss Northwest and now Miss High Plains. At last year’s Miss Nebraska pageant, she was crowned third runner-up.
Dimmitt — who will turn 23 years old on October 17 — also won the interview portion of the Miss High Plains contest. Dimmitt, whose talent is playing the piano, says she promotes healthy lifestyles with her platform theme, “Live Right, Be Bright,” which focuses on the elimination of childhood obesity.
Dimmitt, who graduated from Chadron State College last May with a degree in criminal justice, is currently attending Metro Community College in Omaha, where she is studying to receive her paralegal certificate. She is also awaiting word on whether she has been accepted to the University of Nebraska – Omaha counseling psychology graduate program.
Dimmitt is the daughter of Brian Dimmitt and Sue Dimmitt of Alliance.
