Carhenge ImageA ribbon cutting ceremony will be held Tuesday, October 1 at 9 am at Alliance’s Carhenge as the city takes over the 26-year-old tourist attraction.

Friends of Carhenge will officially transfer ownership at that time.

As part of the ribbon cutting, guest speakers will include Friends of Carhenge President Kendra Schott, Alliance City Manager J.D. Cox, Alliance Visitor’s Bureau Director Kevin Howard, and Mayor Fred Feldges.

Immediately following the ceremony, city crews will begin with revitalization and upgrades to the property.

Carhenge was built in 1987 by former Alliance resident Jim Reinders. In 1994, The Stonehenge replica was donated to the Friends of Carhenge, who have preserved it until gifting it to the city.

Wonderful news! Wish I could attend the ceremonies but failing health precludes any travel.
Best of luck with the project. In your capable hands, Carhenge should outlast Stonehenge!

Jim I wish you could be here for this wonderful event. You will be missed! Carhenge will only get better with this transition.
