CSC entrance signMuch of the Chadron State College campus was without power for a little over an hour this morning.

College officials say the power went out a little before 11:00 when smoke and flames were seen coming out of the Nebraska Public Power District substation on the campus at 12th and Main.

NPPD spokesman Mark Becker says the problem was a failed arrester, with crews able to reroute power around the substation while making repairs. Power was restored about 12:20.
