This year’s schedule includes the first home games for the CSC football and volleyball teams, the annual CSC Rodeo, and the Family Tree recognition of 6 different families with 3 or more generations having attended the college.
The mythical creature the gnome is at the center of the Family Day celebration…just as it was for the “Welcome to School” activities when classes began next month. The overall weekend theme is “Gnome, Sweet Gnome” while the theme for the CSC Rodeo is “Gnome, Gnome on the Range.”
This year’s Family Tree recognition is the largest ever in terms of numbers of families being honored. They are: the Franklin/Preator, Cook, Kuhnel, Jones, Manke/Sides, and Hartman familys. A special brunch is Saturday morning at 10:00.
The Chadron State music department holds its annual pancake breakfast Saturday morning at Memorial Hall, and today the band closes its fundraiser of fans renting actual CSC football jerseys to wear during the game with Colorado Mesa.
The Powder to the People 5K run is at 8 a.m. at the Nelson Physical Activity Center. It’s free and open to the public. Participants wearing white race clothes will find that they turn colors as the race progresses.
