Last week saw the East side Box Butte Avenue on 3rd Street completed. Sidewalk and curb demolition are finished on the South West corner of the 200 block on Box Butte Avenue to the South side of Steph’s Studio. Trees have been cut and all but stumps have been disposed of. Later in the project new Nebraska Forestry recommended trees (for downtowns) will be planted.
This week the crew will bore for electricity and the new spray irrigation system under Box Butte Avenue and under 2nd Street. Conduits will then be placed for both. At the end of the project all overhead wire other than the traffic lights at 3rd and Box Butte will be underground.
To accommodate for strong winds, there will be 8’ x 18” concrete support base poured for the new light posts this week, and a combination area and curb inlet will be set. Concrete for curb and gutter will be poured Wednesday morning if weather permits. Once this portion is done, demolition will continue North past Steph’s Studio toward Bank of the West. This is slated for next week.
