The Nebraska State Fair in Grand Island wrapped up Monday, and it was a great fair for two local young ladies.
Abby Bright, a student at Hemingford High School, won the state championship in the radio public service announcement division for promoting the Nebraska 4-H program.
Also, 2013 Gordon-Rushville High School graduate Shelby Andersen won the state 4-H speech contest. Andersen’s topic was about wanting to pursue a career in ag communications, how 4-H has helped her, and why it is important to have good communicators for agriculture.
Andersen is currently a freshman at Chadron State College who is studying agriculture and is a member of the CSC cheerleading squad. She attended Alliance High School her freshman and sophomore years and also attended the Alliance St. Agnes Academy.
