CHADRON – The Chadron State College football team opens its season one week from tonight in Rolla, Mo, against Missouri Science and Technology, but will first wrap up fall camp with a mock scrimmage this Saturday morning at 10:00 on the practice field.
Second year head coach Jay Long says the event is an important milestone every year. “The mock scrimmage signifies camp is officially over and I know the guys are excited to play someone else,” Long said.
In a mock scrimmage, the team sets up for specific game situations rather than full series of plays. Long says Saturday’s will include a focus on special teams. It will be followed by a true scrimmage for freshman and other deep reserves.
Because of construction of the new Events Center on the south side of the Armstrong Building, the normal access to the practice field is closed. Instead, fans should park at the CSC softball field lot and walk around the south side of field to reach the the practice field.
The construction is also shifting the location of the Booster Club watermelon feed that will follow the end of the freshman scrimmage to the lawn on the north side of the Armstrong Gym. Players from all of the CSC fall sports teams will take part.
The football opener at Missouri S & T will kickoff at 5:30 MT. You can follow all the action live on Double Q Country 97.5 and 105.9 or online here at panhandlepost.com.
