The owner of a concrete, sand, and gravel plant in Alliance will build a new facility on the southwest side of town following the approval of a re-zoning request Thursday morning.

Croell Redi MixCroell Redi Mix Regional Manager Brian Marchant of Sundance, Wyoming told the Alliance City Council Thursday morning that his company plans to break ground by September 1.

Croell has purchased property owned by Dan Dickinson of the Syndicate Block company, and Dickinson requested the property be re-zoned from Heavy Industrial to Highway Commercial.

The council unanimously approved the re-zoning request and waived the traditional three readings.

The plant will be built on the north of the intersection of Cody Avenue and Kansas Avenue, and on the east side of Cody Avenue. The area is just west of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe diesel shop.

Earlier this year, Croell purchased both Bauer Pre-Mix and Weston Mobile Mix.

It’s great news on the economic development front,” said Alliance City Manager J.D. Cox. “Mr. Marchant informed the council that the new cement plant would have computerized service, along with the installation of bays for their trucks to be repaired, which are used throughout the region.   Of course, the cement plant will also offer sand and gravel to its customers.”

Croell Redi Mix also has several plants throughout Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana and Nebraska.
