The National High School Finals Rodeo begins its week-long run Sunday in Rock Springs, Wyo. The Nebraska team, made up of the top four in each of the year-end event standings, includes 8 cowgirls and 4 cowboys from the Panhandle Post area
Two qualified in 2 events each: Torrington’s Kaylie Haun and Lewellen’s Seth Cumpton. Haun is in Pole Bending and in Barrel Racing, Cumpton in Boys Cutting and in Saddle Broncs.
The other area cowgirls on the Nebraska team include two sets of sisters…from Hyannis, Brandy Schaack in Breakaway Roping and Bailey Schaack in Barrel Racing while Torrington sisters Madison and Murphy Haun are in Breakaway Roping and Goat Tying, respective.
Rounding out the regional contingent are Charmane Macomber of Whitman in Girls Cutting, Minatare’s Kayellyn Hall in Goat Tying, and Charmayne Strong of Rushville in Pole Bending
The other national qualifiers from the area for the boys are Cody Nye of Alliance in Tie Down Roping, Bayard’s Kalane Anders in Steer Wrestling and Kimball’s Nick Stull in Saddle Bronc riding.
