Post Playhouse Drowsy The Fort Robinson Post Playhouse opens its final production of the season Wednesday night, the Tony Award-winning musical “The Drowsy Chaperone.”

Playhouse Artistic Director Tom Ossoski is directing the show himself, and calls The Drowsy Chaperone his “all-time favorite musical.”

“It is just so well written, it is just absolutely the funniest show in the whole wide world. It goes back to the old 20′s and 30′s-style vaudeville entertainment; even though it’s schtick, how can you go wrong with a spit take?”

The Drowsy Chaperone will join the other shows…Annie Get Your Gun, Always Patsy Cline, Seussical, and Hollywood: A Cabaret…in rotation through the end of the season a little over a month from now.

Ossowski felt from the time the shows were picked that the season would be a big hit with audiences and says ticket sales are proving him right.

“It’s the best ever; we really have super ticket sales this year, so we’re really pleased. I think it’s a popular season, some big name shows, but also the people are really enjoying the pieces and I think that’s bringing out more people.”

With more and more performances nearing sellout, Ossowski strongly recommends reserving tickets online or by phone rather running the risk of trying to buy them the day of the performance and finding out they’re all gone.
