IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER:
Crop insurance will now offer the “Rainfall Index – Annual Forage Insurance Plan” for annually planted crops that are used for livestock feed or fodder. This insurance is available to producers in Nebraska and South Dakota for 2014 crops. The sales closing date for 2014 fall planted crops is July 15, 2013, and December 15, 2013 for crops planted in the spring of 2014. Interested producers should contact a crop insurance agent for more information. A list of agents can be found on RMA’s website at www.rma.usda.gov/
For 2014 only, producers in Nebraska and South Dakota may purchase either NAP coverage or the Annual Forage Insurance Plan for annually planted crops that are used for livestock feed or fodder.
For 2015 however, NAP coverage will NOT be available in Nebraska and South Dakota for ANNUALLY planted crops that are used for livestock feed or fodder. This includes crops such as small grains, forage sorghums, mixed forages, turnips, and other annually planted crops with the intended uses of “forage, green chop, grazing, green manure, hay, and silage” etc.
